Benign fibrous histiocytoma of lung in a child: The diagnostic dilemma

چکیده
Benign fibrous histiocytoma (BFH) is an extremely rare mediastinal tumor with few cases reported in 20-40 year age group [1, 2]. We herein report first case of paediatric BFH of lung. The diagnostic and therapeutic implications of the tumor should be in the armamentarium of the treating surgeon, as it will reduce pitfalls in management of this tumor owing to its rarity, benign nature and excellent prognosis.

Malignant Fibrous Histiocytoma of the Lung: A Case Report
Malignant Fibrous Histiocytoma (MFH) is the most common soft-tissue sarcoma which predominantly surfaces in the retro-peritoneum and extremity. MFH of lung is a very rare condition. The diagnosis is essentially through histologic examination. However, the invasion of the chest wall or other organs might help establish the malignant nature. We report a case of a 77-year-old man who had been prese...

A right sided mid-tongue growth in a 14-year-old boy diagnosed initially as Pyogenic Granuloma was found subsequently to be a Benign Fibrous Histiocytoma. This lesion had three seeming recurrences with divergent histologic and clinical appearances within a short period of time. Although there was eventual consensus on the morphogenesis and benign histologic nature of the lesion this caused diag...
متن کاملMetachronous Malignant Fibrous Histiocytoma- A Rare Case Report
Malignant fibrous histiocytoma (MFH) is one of the most common types of soft tissue sarcomas in adults. Distant metastases are developed in 30–40% of patients with MFH, with the most common site being the lung. However, metachronous MFH has not been reported previously in literature. This report describes a case of a 30-year-old man, who had two metachronous thigh tumors, both of which were con...

Background: Fine-Needle Aspiration Cytology (FNAC) is used for diagnosis of intraocular, orbital and eyelid lesions. In this study we evaluated the outcome and the accuracy of using this technique in diagnosis of benign or malignant behavior of lesions. Methods: FNAC was performed on 26 specimens obtained from 25 patients with intraocular, orbital and eyelid tumors and the results were compared...
متن کاملPrimary Pulmonary Malignant Fibrous Histiocytoma
Malignant fibrous histiocytoma (MFH) is one of the most common adult soft tissue sarcomas. MFH is very aggressive and is most often found in the extremities and the retroperitoneum, but it can manifest at other sites. Though the lungs are the most common sites of metastasis, they rarely present there as a primary tumor. Our report describes a rare case of a primary MFH tumor in the lung. Carefu...
